As per the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, 1987, it is mandatory for all the candidates wanting to become certified nursing aides have to go through state recognized CNA program. In Oregon, there are two different CNA programs for the students who want to become certified nursing aides. The programs are known as CNA Level 1 and CNA Level 2. These two different programs have been designed to provide different level of care to the patients.

Just for the quick info, the certified nursing aides are the professionals taking the precious responsibility of caring the patients under the supervision of registered nurses. To become eligible for the CNA program, a student must be 18 years or more and must have a high school diploma or GED. Also, the student has to go through a criminal background check. As mentioned earlier, there are two different levels of CNA programs offered in Oregon. And, the students who want to go for CNA Level 2 program have different specializations.

Basically, the two specializations available for CNA Level 2 program students are CNA 2 Acute Care Program and CNA 2 Restorative Care Program. Both the specializations require additional learning and mastering of skills than CNA Level 1 program. On program completion, the students have to pass the competence examination held by the Oregon State. The exam has two parts i.e. written and competence examination.

It has been observed that, Oregon is one of the few states providing specialized CNA programs for the existing certified nursing aides who want to enhance their skills and increase their earning potential.
