As per the federal rules, it’s not mandatory at all to cite a high school diploma or a GED before joining the CNA classes. You can check it with the course program co- coordinator or the facility you want to get enrolled into. States like Texas doesn’t require any GED or a high school diploma for a CNA enrolment.  Some schools don’t ask for this diploma or GED if you have completed the 10th grade high school studies.

Q- As a pre nursing student, I have two more classes remaining to take before I can apply for the nursing school.  It’s almost a year that I need to wait to get selected and hence I was thinking of getting enrolled for CNA. This will add to my experience before I actually begin with the nursing school. Shall I go for a CNA program or just wait for a year and get on with the nursing school? The basic issue is that without a decent experience, no one will possibly hire me in the medical field, which is the field I want to make a career in. I heard about the CNA program and how this experience will be beneficial in the clinicals in nursing schools. Any information about it is welcomed.

A-it would be a great idea to get enrolled for a CNA program before beginning with the nursing school. This one year time frame can be used best if you work as a certified nursing assistant. Entering in the world of CNA will enable to you know and learn the basic nursing skills required for any nursing program, this will include , giving a bath to the patient, changing beds, measuring , repositioning, taking the vital signs and similar day to day activities. Before your nursing school starts, you will be much more confident and familiar in interacting and dealing with the patient and the clients. With the valuable experience you will also be able to get some money as you pass the state exam and get a job of CNA. This will make you more aware and experienced than the aspirants who may not get the CNA degree or the work experience before the nursing programs.

You also can work for part time during your nursing school studies. This you can do in the same facility or the hospital where your clinicals are conducted. All in all, i think it is a bright idea to join the certified nursing assistant program, while you a have a year’s time to make best use of it. you definitely should go for it.
