Massachusetts is facing a great shortage of the nursing faculty, which has accumulated numerous nursing candidates in waiting list. The CNA schools in Massachusetts are trying to make up for this and educating the nursing students by giving them all possible knowledge that will be helpful in their future while working professionally or working as a teaching faculty.

There are numerous vocational schools and colleges in the state, which offer CNA training programs. These schools provide nursing education at a very low tuition fee of $600 to $1,200. A total of hundred hours of training is given to the nursing students consisting of seventy five hours of theoretical lectures and the rest of the twenty five hours of clinical training in a local hospital or nursing home.

During the training, systematic and methodical lessons are taught to the students about the basic clinical and the nursing skills, which include:

  • Restorative skills
  • Emergency care
  • Nutrition and infection control
  • Patients’ rights
  • Sterilizing the instruments used during the surgery or the treatment.
  • Checking the vital signs of the patients such as, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and so on.
  • Reporting the vital signs of the patients to the registered nurse.
  • Keeping the patients’ room neat, clean and germ free.

In order to work professionally in the any of the prominent hospitals, nursing homes or clinics, one has to complete the above training and clear both the evaluation tests, which are written and practical. It is essential for all the students to clear both the examinations to receive a CNA certification.

The efforts put in by the CNA schools of Massachusetts, ensure that their students will have a financially secured future. The average salary of a nursing assistant in Massachusetts is $23,400 annually and is expected to increase by 13% in the next few years.
