CNA salary in Nursing Homes

In the nursing homes, the CNAs are required to perform various types of duties such as personal care, basic nursing care, meeting the daily living activities of the patients and various other types of duties. They are also required to form strong emotional bond with the patient and families, maintain and document patient chart, and constantly report to RN or Physician about the condition of the patient.
In the similar way, the salary offered in the various facilities and positions also varies and the nurse aide working in the intensive care unit or emergency room of the hospital, travel nurse aide and private clinics are paid higher than working in the nursing homes, home health agencies, private duty CNA or physician’s office.

CNA salary in Nursing Homes is around $24,000 to $34,000 per annum or wage of $14 to $17 per hour. The variation in salaries and wages depends on numerous factors such as education and certification, work experience, size of the facility, patient’s inflow, geographical location of the facility, living cost and shift hours.
You must also remember that different states have varied salary structure, where few states pay higher to their CNAs, whereas many states pay lower salaries to nurse aides. For example, in Texas nurse assistants earns around $30500 per annum but same CNA can earn around $36000 -$37,000 p.a. in New York or Washington DC.
But, whatever is your salary, while working in a nursing home you must bear compassionate nature, excellent communication skills, resilience, humble nature and amicable behavior. You must also understand that you are the only one for these long term care patients in these facilities and their happiness and sorrow is shared with you, and you must be sympathetic and provide emotional and mental support to both the patient and families.
